Customizable Bass Lure / Wobbler (OpenSCAD)
This is a fully parametric, high-performance fishing lure designed for target species like Perch, Bass, and Pike. Using the included OpenSCAD file, you can transform this model from a crankbait (wobbler) into a paddle tail with just a few clicks.
Key Features
- Dual-Action Modes: Toggle between a classic Diving Lip (Wobbler) or a Paddle Tail action.
- Fully Parametric: Adjust the total length, body width, and height to match your local baitfish.
- Adjustable Eyelets: Choose exactly where you want your hook hangers (Nose, Belly, Tail) and how far they should protrude.
- Organic Design: Features rounded dorsal fins and realistic side relief for a life-like silhouette underwater.
Print & Material Requirements (Crucial for Durability)
To ensure this lure can handle the strike of a predator and remain watertight, follow these strict printing guidelines:
- Material: PETG or stronger (e.g., ABS, ASA, or Nylon). PETG is highly recommended for its impact resistance and UV stability. Do not use standard PLA, as it may become brittle or warp in direct sunlight/warm water.
- Wall Count: Minimum 5 Walls/Perimeters. This is vital for the structural integrity of the hook eyelets and to ensure the body remains 100% watertight even after contact with rocks or teeth.
- Infill: 15-25% (Gyroid recommended). Adjust the infill to fine-tune the buoyancy (floating, suspending, or sinking).
- Top/Bottom Layers: At least 5 layers to prevent any water ingress.
Customization Options
In the OpenSCAD Customizer, you can tweak the following:
- Lure Type: Switch between Lip, Paddle, or None.
- Action Tuning: Change the Lip_Angle for different diving depths or Paddle_Size for more vibration.
- Eyelet Toggles: Turn off specific eyelets if you prefer a single-hook setup.
- Outset Control: Adjust how far the eyelets stick out to accommodate different split ring sizes.
Assembly & Tuning
- Sealing: Even with 5 walls, we recommend a light coat of UV resin or epoxy for a professional finish and extra protection.
- Weighting: For the wobbler version, adding small tungsten or lead weights into the belly (during the print or via drilled holes) will improve swimming stability and casting distance.
- Hardware: Use high-quality split rings and treble hooks suitable for your target species.
