Storage/transport box for 308. Win ammunition

The box holds 12 rounds and is intended for hunting/field use. The box features a lid that slides in both directions. The locking mechanism provides resistance, allowing you to easily select between 3 or 6 cartridges.

I am going to print the box in high visibility colors to keep control over my cartridges when moose hunting.

Printing:

• Print the locking pin oriented on its side to avoid horizontal layers. Add an outer brim.
• Print the locking screw standing, with the threading towards the print plate. Add an outer brim.
• Print the lid with the top side facing the print plate.
• Print the box standing on the print plate.

The locking pin and the screw have a small tolerance (X and Y axes 98%, Z axis 100% when the objects are standing). 
If the fit is too tight, increase the scale of the X and Y axes by 1-2%.

Added two premade models with allready added tolerance that sould be rady to go. 
One is single filament and the other have two tone with the text “308. Win” in the lid.

Parts:

The locking mechanism requires an expansion spring with a diameter between 4-4.5 mm and a length between 2.5-3 mm. I found my spring in a ballpoint pen.

Assembly:

1. Straighten and thread a 10 cm piece of filament through the hole in the base of the screw.
2. Place the spring over the filament (away from the threads).
3. Attach the lock pin to the end of the filament (there is a hole inside the model for this purpose).
4. Wiggle the lock pin into place while keeping enough pressure on the filament to hold the parts together.
5. Screw the lock screw in place.
6. Slide the lid into place.
