Description
This is my first remix. I was unhappy with the positioning of the BLTouch sensor mount on the (otherwise excellent) LPA Modular X carriage at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2034743. Because it is on the rear of the carriage, about 50 MM from the hotends, I lost about 50 MM of Y-axis travel. Since I have the large bed, it was physically impossible to arrange the stock rails to regain this amount of travel.
This will also, of course, fit any other X-carriage that you choose to use, as it attaches to the top mounting screws of the hotend.
This fits the Stock Tarantula dual hotend. (E3d Chimera clone). If you are looking for a daughter plate for the LPA Modular X carriage for this hotend, the Chimera plate from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1829292 works perfectly.
It also has a mount for a radial blower such as the following:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MJU6JR2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got better airflow with less vibration from the radial fan than I did from a 40mm fan on the Fang Duct.
Works for me with .3mm probe offset (G-code G30 Z0.3 after leveling process with my BLTouch)
This changed when I changed from Smoothie stable to the latest Smoothie Edge, so YMMV
Supports are only needed for the bottom area, up to the base of the fan mount. the rest can be printed without supports if you have a part fan installed. Without a part fan, supports are also needed for the top. Make sure you add supports "from bed only" to prevent support material from being generated inside of the duct and impeding airflow.
I had better luck printing with a raft, but you may be able to print this thing without it.
