Longer suspension arms for the Hobby Lobby Hunter & Tornado RC cars from the early 80's.
Common to both front and rear
- Track will go up 60mm total
- Zero caster and camber *except for the rears, see below.
- Upper arms were designed to maximize shock travel and angle within the space provided. This created a much more damped feel, but you will probably need to adjust your spring perches.
- Lower arms were designed to accept anti roll bar end links.
- Bump stops are setup for ~40 degrees total movement. ~20 degrees at max droop and compression. This should help keep the dog bones from popping out and for sure will keep them from binding against the drive cups.
- As much as possible, all hardware is reused but you will need to source a few things.
Front
- The front A-Arms have print in place ball joints. Before use, rotate the ball 180 degrees. The cup in the ball is designed to firmly hold the front axle knuckle king pin pivots.
Rear
- Upper arms were designed for equal length suspension, but this does lead to the geometry being a little wonky. Negative camber at full droop, positive camber at full compression. To correct the geometry, I either need to make the upper arm shorter and mount it like the stock part, or make a new taller rear hub. "It's fine" for bashing though.
Required parts:
- 4x HPI Dogbone #101064. But any dogbone that is 90mm long from center to center, and has 8mm drive balls will work. A HPI #101358 works too. 8mm drive ball dogbones are not uncommon in 1/8 scale RC, though not universal. 7mm drive ball dogbones are too small, I've bought and failed with HPI #86230. =(
- Longer steering links
- 8x M3 x 18mm screws (for bump stops)
- 4x M3 x 25mm screws (for shocks)
- 12x M3 nylock nuts
I'm fairly certain, like 99%, that these will bolt right up to a Robbe Pantera, Serpent Cobra, and Graupner Hunter.
I'm 100% certain these will bolt right up to a Skyward Labs Mean Mudder.
Update Nov 25, 2017: Added untested part files to add 1' camber all around, 10' caster up front, and 1' toe in in the rear. My printer is having issues and haven't printed them yet.
