Onewheel Safety Wheels Remix(rebuild)

Update 2020-04-23: This thing works great! I have crashed a few times and had no issues with the ABS plastic breaking. I did, however, have an issue with curling during the initial champfer due to ABS, so I uploaded a V2 file that has a dramatic reduction in shaping on the bottom. This v2 file may take post-processing for proper fitment, but IMO that is better than having to post process something that has 12mm of "unsmooth" surface along the bottom.

I do not have the wheels yet. I will mark final when I have confirmed that they work.

I liked the compatibility file because the wheels were available, yet when I looked at the STL I could see that the model was indeed hollowed out, leading to some interesting surfaces and thicknesses. At the same time, the new Amazon wheels have both 33mm and 36mm axles, and it was clear that the original was designed around 33mm axles. I therefore rebuilt the source object from scratch, moving the wheel inboard by 1mm and increasing the width by 3mm. I also addressed the thin bottom and back by moving the wheel downward and forward (from perspective of being mounted) by 2mm each. This gave extra space specifically under the countersunk mounting flange so it should be much stronger.

I printed these in ABS using 8 walls, so the sides are basically solid. Since the force of a nosedive is essentially straight up into the board (directly into the sides perpendicular to the print layers), there is really no reason that I see to print in an exotic material. The 6mm axle would have to slice through 7.5mm wide solid ABS, in which case send pics! This might mean they are more prone to breaking if you fall or smash them in a different way, but... if they break you can replace them for $1.20 using cheap ABS, then keep riding. In fact, you can get 4 wheels for $11, so you can bring a spare set if you are really worried.
