Description
This replaces the X-axis motor cover/limit switch box one that contains mounts for the Creality CR-10 filament runout switch v2 and a PTFE tube fitting -- perfect for direct-drive setups. (The X-axis limit switch installs into this as well.)
The filament spool holder will need to be mounted on the lower frame for the printer, which is where I prefer it anyway. There are a number of things available to accomplish that, this is my design used in the photos.
Included are two versions of the mount; one that utilizes M3 brass threaded inserts for the switch mounting screws, and one with holes sized to drive M3 screws directly into the part. Using inserts makes for a more robust part, but you can probably get away without them.
(4) 3Mx4mm threaded inserts
(4) 3Mx20mm screws (I prefer hex socket flat head cap screw)
(2) Small zip ties for cable management
(1) PC4-M10 PTFE tube fitting
(1) Creality CR-10 filament runout switch v2
I printed this PETG which is my preferred material for printer parts, but PLA+ works great too, and regular PLA would probably be fine as well.
It's up to you to figure how to utilize the switch, I have it connected to my OctoPi setup.
