Description

Add a convenient tether point to the top or side of a YakAttack BlackPak or ShortStak.

I keep fish grips, pliers, line cutters, and other small tools tethered to my kayak. Traditional milk crates provide plenty of places to clip them, but the BlackPak does not. This small anchor adds a proper stainless split-ring attachment point wherever you need one.

Clip and unclip tool leashes, small carabiners, retractors, and other tethered gear without wrapping everything around the crate itself.

Required Hardware

Each anchor requires:

  • One ½-inch stainless-steel wood screw
  • One ¾-inch stainless-steel split ring

I used 20 mm outside-diameter split rings made from 1.2 mm 304 stainless-steel wire:

A loosely installed zip tie can work in place of the split ring, but the stainless ring provides a cleaner and more durable attachment point.

Installation

  1. Choose an available screw location on the top or side of the BlackPak or ShortStak.
  2. Attach the printed anchor using a ½-inch stainless-steel wood screw.
  3. Install the split ring through the hole in the anchor.
  4. Clip your tool tether to the ring.

That’s it.

This is intended for retaining fishing tools and other small gear. It is not a lifting point or a tie-down for securing the crate.

Material

ASA is recommended for the best long-term resistance to sunlight and heat.

PETG is also a good choice and is easier to print. It should work well for normal kayak use, though ASA is preferable for a part that may spend years exposed to direct sun or stored in a hot vehicle.

PLA is not recommended for permanent outdoor use.

Print Settings

  • 0.2 mm layer height
  • 65% infill
  • 5 walls
  • 4 top layers
  • 4 bottom layers
  • ASA or PETG
