Description
This Norwegian Stave Church model is based on the Borgund Stave Church. I tried to add as much as possible detail to the exterior.
To protect this medieval 800 year old wooden churches, they are tarred periodically, giving them their distinct black appearance.
Norwegian stave churches are medieval wooden Christian churches renowned for their post-and-lintel (stave) construction, a unique timber-framing technique using load-bearing wooden posts (stafr). The architecture reflects a unique blend of Viking and Christian culture, with intricate decorations, carved dragons, and zoomorphic interlace patterns. Stave churches were built in the wake of Christianity's arrival in Norway around the 10th century, with most built between 1150 and 1350. They declined after the Black Death and the Reformation, with a dramatic loss of numbers over the centuries. Between 1992 and 1996 there was about 50 arson attacked on Stave Churches, predominantly caused by members of the Norwegian black metal scene.
I hope you like the model.
