Compatible with Kobalt & Harbor Freight US General Mini Tool Boxes

This is a universal version of my custom drawer insert system, designed to work with both the Kobalt Mini Tool Box and the Harbor Freight US General Mini Tool Box.

During the original design process, it became clear that the bottom drawer is significantly deeper than necessary, so this version fully takes advantage of that space by introducing a 3-tier removable tray system that dramatically increases usable storage while keeping parts organized and secure.

What’s Included

Top Tray Organizer
A clean, compartmentalized insert for the top tray, ideal for small tools, bits, and accessories.

Middle Drawer Organizer
A single-piece insert with an updated layout designed for universal compatibility across both toolbox brands.

Bottom Drawer – 3-Tier Modular System

• Bottom tier: Designed for small parts, screws, and hardware
• Middle tray: Removable and keyed to fit precisely
• Top tray: Acts as a lid, keeping small parts contained and preventing spills

Only 2 of the 3 bottom trays are shown in the photos. The third (top) tray is included in the design files, along with an alternate cavity configuration for the middle section of the bottom drawer, allowing you to choose the layout that best fits your use case.

Print Profiles & Material Recommendations

Both PLA and PETG print profiles are included with this upload.

• PETG is recommended if the toolbox will be used in a hot environment or workshop, as it offers better heat resistance and durability.
• PLA is perfectly suitable for hobby, craft, or indoor use where temperatures remain moderate.

Printing Notes

• No supports required
• Print orientation as provided in the 3MF
• 0.2–0.28 mm layer height recommended
• 8–10% infill works well for strength and print speed

This project began as my first from-the-ground-up CAD design and has evolved into a modular, highly usable organization system that I now use daily. Feedback is welcome, and future refinements or alternate layouts may be added over time.
