Description
I was looking for Stratego since I loved this game as a kid. But the versions I saw online I didn't really like aestetically, so the idea of designing my own came up. I only have a 3D printer for a few months and quickly realized that tinkercad was not really gonna do it. So after designing 2-3 small things on fusion I thought I go for it… make my own Stratego board game!
It was a very steep learning curve with 40 versions and experiments with size and not fitting lids, till settings in the slicer. For example, when I thought everything was finished and started playing the game I noticed I could see through the pieces. So needed to make them thicker, increase infill etc.
It does off course come with a lid and strap to make it easy to take with you on your travels. The strap can be printed in PLA as well as TPU. I think the TPU will remain intact longer, but for those who don't have TPU, the PLA does very well for me so far. All pieces fall into the board so the game can take a small hit or be played in the train for example. When the lid is placed on top all pieces will remain in their position so the game can even be paused and continued later.
For those without an AMS I also made a version with extruded drawings. These can be printed in 1 colour and still work very well. For enhanced contrast some paint can be applied to the faces but I could play it in quite dim light without.
I really like the concentric top layer for the board, but this is off course personal, so feel free to set it back to monotonic line.
I also tried scaling it down for the A1 mini, but unfortunately this will reduce the quality of the drawings a lot until the point where I didn't like it. 70% gave problems with the prime tower so it needs to be scaled even further. I don't own an A1 mini so can't test it, but when an 0.2 mm nozzle is selected for the playing pieces it does look quite good in the slicer. Maybe someone with an A1 can add some profiles for this.

For beginners I've embedded the value of the pieces on the bottom. This made it really easy for my son to learn :)
When I was about to upload I noticed a board game contest was coming! This is my first contest entry (in fact, my first serious upload) so please be gentle and if you do have tips let me know and I can see if I can incorperate it. And off course, I would love to see a photo of your version!
