Trammel of Archimedes - Futuristic

English: This is a recreation of Archimedes' Trammel. I was inspired by RayRaywasHere's Do-Nothing Machine https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5103 It runs smoother and has less play. I also drew a circle and made two holes. The hole in the crank is to see how it follows a circular path even though the end of the handlebar follows an elliptical path. This is because it's positioned at the center of the foci of the ellipses; it's perhaps more complicated. The second hole in the base is where the handle should be inserted, and if you hold the crank firmly, you can rotate the entire mechanism in a circular motion, see video. The original screw is the tight one, the loose one is looser in case anyone has trouble inserting it. Notes: This device probably predates Archimedes much further, as Proclus mentions it much earlier, and an earlier one survives. The original device was used to draw and cut ellipses. Gardeners use a string and two sticks stuck in the ground. No printing support or specific parameters required. Español: Esta es una recreación del Compás de Arquímedes. El agujero del manubrio es para ver como sigue una trayectoria circular a pesar de que el extremo del manubrio sigue una trayectoria elíptica. Esto es por situarse en el centro de los focos de las elipses, igual es mas complicado. El segundo agujero en la base es donde se debe introducir el pivote, y si se sujeta firme la manivela, se puede hacer girar circularmente todo el mecanismo, ver vídeo. El tornillo original es el 'tight', el 'loose' va mas flojo por si alguien tuviera problemas al colocarlo. Notas, probablemente este aparato sea muy anterior a Arquímedes, ya que Proclo lo menciona mucho antes, y se conserva alguno anterior. El aparato original se usaba para dibujar y cortar elipses. Los jardineros usan una cuerda y dos palos clavados en el suelo. No necesita soporte al imprimir ni parámetros específicos.
